Taster Sessions Oct 12th and Oct 19th for new group
Little Earth Stars parent & toddler group is for children aged 2-5 to come to the woods on a regular basis - younger siblings can come too. Based on Forest School principles, these sessions support child development, nature connection, social interaction and good old fashioned play! For parents or carers there is a chance to be outdoors in all weathers with other like-minded people in a non-judgemental setting.
Sessions last for two hours and are based at our main camp at Young Wood, close to a compost loo and parking. There is a covered baby-changing space too, and buggies can come into the main camp. Hot drinks (tea or coffee) for adults on arrival are included in the price.
The group is lead by Sam Lomas, an experienced Forest School leader and mother. Each week a seasonal theme will be offered as well as following the interests of the children - looking at wildlife, foraging, wild walks, nature stories, eco-projects, woodland makings, messing in the mud kitchen and scavenger hunts. We hope these regular mornings will build a community together, to support everyone as your children grow. We end the mornings by evaluating our learning together, planning the next one and on special occasions we will make popcorn or damper bread around the campfire . Grown-ups are encouraged to get involved as much as children so there is fun for all ages.
Sessions take place all year round and there is shelter in our roundhouse for rainy days, so you can enjoy the great outdoors whatever the weather. We have some waterproofs to lend out too!
